After Dad had stayed at Whitehaven for a number of weeks in respite after recovering from a heart operation it became clear that this facility wasn’t like any other we as a family had seen after recognising dads return home was looking to be impossible.
The staff played a genuine and enthusiastic role in helping Dad in his recovery. Management were consistently available to answer question and help with any questions any time of day. Furthermore when it came to making some more permanent decisions, Dad had made the choice on his own “this is where I want to be”- that simple. He had developed friendships with the other residents and the staff and the food was great.
In working out the finer details the team at Whitehaven gave us flexible and comprehensive choices and assistance in the simple transition from respite to permanency. No hidden costs and complex asset test. No assessments required for levels of care which dad found intrusive.

I recently had to look for accommodation for my Mum,
I had no idea how complicated it could be! Acas, Centrelink income tests, asset tests… and then I was introduced to Whitehaven. The philosophy of Whitehaven is to simplify . at Whitehaven, there are two options for payment, a daily fee paid one month in advance or pay for your lovely suite, them a small monthly service fee!
Emotionally it’s a tough decision to make, Whitehaven staff are so understanding, and simplified the fee process which freed me up to take care my mum which is the way it should be.
